Trustee Scholarship makes history at Penn State Altoona

In the 30 years since her graduation from Penn State with a degree in education, Deborah Duffield has championed the rights of children with learning disabilities, traveled overseas on missions for her church, and provided financial assistance through endowed scholarships to college students at three institutions. Although she resides only 15 minutes from the Penn State Altoona campus, Duffield never had a direct connection with the college until 2000, when she established a scholarship to benefit Penn State Altoona undergraduates. Recently, she established Penn State Altoona's first Trustee Scholarship through a program established by the University to raise $100 million in privately endowed scholarships over five years. The University will match 5 percent of gifts or pledges made in support of this program at the campus or college of the donor's choice.
