International scholar to speak on Islamic revival

Francis Robinson, an internationally known scholar of Islamic history, will speak on "Other-Worldly and This-Worldly Piety and the Islamic Revival" at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, in the International Programs lounge, 410 Boucke Building on Penn State's University Park campus. The topic for this lecture ranges over much of the Muslim world and sets out to explain the key processes of religious change which lie behind the Islamic revival, and what they might portend. Robinson is visiting campus in the context of the linkage between Penn State and Royal Holloway College.

Robinson is senior vice principal of Royal Holloway College, University of London and is professor of the history of South Asia in the University of London.
