Chinua Hawks bring sounds of "pop-soul" to campuses

Singer, songwriter and producer Chinua Hawk will bring his musical talents to Penn State Berks-Lehigh Valley College on Monday, March 22, at 1:30 p.m. at the Lehigh Valley campus and at 7:30 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center at the Berks campus.

Based on the inspiration of legendary singers such as Stevie Wonder and Donnie Hathaway, Hawk's lyrics have been defined as mirrors to life experiences. Chinua is Nigerian for "God's own blessing," while Hawk comes from his Native American heritage.

Touring colleges nationally, he's coined the phrase "pop-soul" -- a combination of old-fashioned flavor added to the popular music sound of today -- and made this his niche.

Admission is free and the public is invited to attend. Penn State Lehigh Valley is located on Mohr Lane in Fogelsville, and Penn State Berks is just off Broadcasting Road in Reading. For more information, contact the Lehigh Valley campus at 610-285-5042, or the Berks campus at 610-396-6067.
