Hindelang picks up 600th baseball coaching victory in dramatic fashion

For the second time in nine days, the Penn State baseball team got a two-out, two-strike home run in its final at-bat to win a game. Freshman Matt Lewis (Arnold, Md.) hit a 1-2 fastball into the wind and over the wall in left field to lift the Nittany Lions to a dramatic 4-3 victory over Minnesota last Sunday at Siebert Field. The win gave Penn State head coach Joe Hindelang 600 victories for his career. It was his 379th victory at Penn State, putting him one win behind Joe Bedenk as the all-time wins leader at Penn State. Junior Josh Palm (Conneaut Lake, Pa.) pitched three scoreless innings to improve to 5-1 and junior Clint Eury (Butler, Pa.) tossed a scoreless ninth inning for his fourth save.
