Another six Penn State students are awarded Fulbrights

University Park, Pa. -- The University has announced six more student recipients of Fulbright grants. Three Penn Staters have been awarded Fulbrights to study or teach in Germany; one has received a Fulbright to study in Korea; another student has been awarded with a Fulbright for research in Belgium; and yet another has been honored with a Fulbright to research in Australia.

Penn State physics major wins Fulbright grant
Nathan Kurz, a Penn State senior and Schreyer Honors College Scholar, was awarded a Fulbright Grant to study at the Technical University of Munich, Germany. Kurz, the son of Albert and Sandra Kurz of Ephrata, Pa., is a physics major and holds a minor in math. For his Schreyer Honors College thesis he will focus on superconductivity in reduced dimensional systems.

Penn State psychology major is awarded Fulbright grant
Hannalore Burns, a Penn State senior, was awarded a Fulbright Grant to attend law school in Munich, Germany. Burns, the daughter of David and Margaret Burns of Rochester, N.Y., has a major in psychology and a minor in law.

Penn State senior wins Fulbright to teach in Germany
Danielle Copelli, a Penn State University senior, was awarded a Fulbright Teaching Assistantship to teach English in Germany. Copelli, the daughter of John and Mary Copelli of Willow Grove, Pa., has three majors in international politics, German, and international studies.

Penn State comparative literature Ph.D. candidate wins Fulbright fellowship
Deberniere Torrey, a Penn State Ph.D. student, was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to Korea. Torrey, the daughter of Jane Torrey and the late Reuben Torrey III, is pursuing her Ph.D. in comparative literature.

Penn State graduate student wins Fulbright to conduct research in Brussels
Christine Mahoney, a Penn State graduate student, was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to Brussels. Mahoney, the daughter of James and Ann Mahoney of Langhorne, Pa., is studying in three fields at Penn State. Her first field is American politics; the second field is comparative politics; and the third field is statistical methods.

Penn State senior wins Fulbright for research in Australia, many other awards
Danielle S. Perry, a senior from Drexel Hill, Pa., has been offered multiple awards for graduate research abroad, including a Fulbright Fellowship for research at the Brain Dynamics Centre in Sydney, Australia. Perry, a physics major and math minor in Penn State's Schreyer Honors College, also has won a Winston Churchill Scholarship and a National Institutes of Health (NIH)-Cambridge University Fellowship, both of which are for graduate study at Cambridge University in England. Perry is the first Penn State student to ever win either the Winston Churchill Scholarship or the NIH-Cambridge University Fellowship.
