Men's track and field team to send three to NCAA Outdoor Championships

The Penn State men's track and field team, fresh off its best-ever eighth place finish at the NCAA East Regional, will send three athletes to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, June 9-12, in Austin, Texas. The Nittany Lions garnered three automatic qualifiers at the regional meet with senior All-American Chavous Nichols (triple jump), senior Matt Moyer (javelin) and sophomore Dane Miller (shot put). Nichols won the regional triple jump title with a regional record and personal best leap of 54-3 3/4 last weekend. That mark ranks ninth going into NCAA competition. Moyer placed fourth in the javelin at the regional with a career-best mark of 230-3. That mark ranks 17th coming into NCAA competition. Miller placed third in the shot put at the regional with a personal best toss of 59-7, which ranks 26th going into NCAA competition. Competition begins Wednesday, June 9. The top eight American placers in each event earn All-America honors.
