Faculty seminars focus on 'Writing Across the Curriculum'

June 21, 2004

Two programs conducted by Center for Excellence in Writing director Jon Olson will be offered this summer for faculty across disciplines who teach writing intensive "W" classes, or any other course that helps students learn to write as well as write to learn.

Participants may select from two options:

-- Option One: "Integrating Writing, Critical Thinking, and Active Learning in Classrooms Across the Curriculum." In this three-session afternoon seminar series, participants will focus on helping students think critically, designing writing assignments and evaluating writing assignments. It will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. July 7, 15 and 21 in 319 Rider Building I, University Park.

-- Option Two: "Introduction to Writing Across the Curriculum." This one-day seminar will introduce faculty to writing across the curriculum in order to help them begin to integrate a writing-intensive pedagogy into their content classes. It will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 23 in 319 Rider Building I, University Park.
