McKeesport CEO appointed to State Board of Control for local school district

Penn State McKeesport Chief Executive Officer Curtiss E. Porter has been appointed to the State Board of Control for Duquesne City School District in Duquesne, Pa. Porter's appointment was approved by the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas. Porter earned a Ph.D. in counseling at the University of Pittsburgh. He is one of three individuals appointed by the state's Secretary of Education to manage the school district for the city of Duquesne, along with a number of personnel who manage the curriculum. For three years, this group will manage all affairs related to the education of Duquesne City youth.
Their purpose is to return the school district to financial self-sufficiency and under the control of an elected school board.
