Penn State McKeesport faculty announce publications

Michael Dailey, assistant professor of accounting, recently published an article in the Creative College Teaching Journal. The article, "Using Technology to Achieve Consolidation and Analysis," discusses how technology can be used to consolidate relevant course materials while making the subject matter relevant to the student's field of study. The focus of the article shows how computer-based support can be used to make introductory college courses, often taught at an accelerated pace, a coherent whole, helping the student to see the role of the course in the field/profession and making that field/profession more attractive to the student.

James Stewart, professor of labor studies and industrial relations and African and African-American Studies, recently had his book, Flight, In Search of Vision, published by the Africa World Press. The book chronicles the evolution of black/African studies and explores the potential for spearheading contemporary efforts to confront various intellectual and social challenges. A review of the book, written by Molefi Kete Asante, professor of Africa-American studies at Temple University, states that Stewart's book "represents some of the best thinking about the theoretical implications of African-American studies." Asante also notes that "Stewart's originality is refreshing and his command of the numerous theories and ideologies of culture, class, and gender places him in the top ranks of comprehensive African scholars."
