Penn State Lehigh Valley seeks Artists-in-Action

Penn State Lehigh Valley is sponsoring its annual Artists-in-Action, an art program and competition for Lehigh Valley artists. Artists will be asked to spend one to three days -- either morning or afternoon -- during the week of Oct. 25 at the Penn State Lehigh Valley campus to paint or digitally photograph views of the campus. This year, artists may choose to create their vision of Penn State University in 1855 -- as part of the University's 150th anniversary celebration. While the artists are working, students, faculty and staff will stop by to watch and discuss the work and artistic techniques the artists are incorporating into their work. Artists will be paid a small stipend for their participation. All finished artwork created at the campus will be featured in an exhibition during December. One finished artwork will be selected by the students, faculty and staff and purchased for an award of $300. The winning piece will become part of the campus‚ permanent collection. To participate, call Barbara Hutchinson at (610) 285-5159. Deadline to register for the program is Oct. 11.
