Joanne Rogers, wife of the late Fred Rogers, to visit Penn State

Penn State Public Broadcasting welcomes Joanne Rogers -- wife of the late Fred Rogers, host of the public television children's program "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" -- to Penn State University Libraries on Thursday, Oct. 7. Rogers will visit to discuss "The World According to Mister Rogers," a collection of short stories, anecdotes and insights by her late husband. The event, which is co-sponsored by Penn State University Libraries, will begin at 4 p.m. in the Foster Auditorium, 101 Pattee Library, on the University Park campus.

Rogers' appearance in Foster Auditorium will be highlighted by an interview conducted by award-winning WPSX-TV producer Patty Satalia. Rogers also will welcome questions from audience members. Following the dialogue, audience members will be invited to attend a reception and book signing in the Mann Assembly Room, 103 Paterno Library. The dialogue and reception are free to the public.

A professional pianist, Joanne Rogers has performed extensively with her Rollins College classmate and fellow pianist Jeannine Morrison. The piano duo plays numerous recitals, performs with orchestras and conducts music workshops.

Rogers' extensive volunteer services include participation on the Board of Directors of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Board of Trustees of Rollins College, and as an elder in the Presbyterian Church. Rogers holds advisory interest in the Pace School and has served as a board member of the Program for Female Offenders.
