Penn State Hershey Medical Center again earns Consumer Choice Award

Hershey, Pa. -- For the fifth consecutive year, Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center has been named a Consumer Choice Award winner by National Research Corp. (NRC), an independent health-care performance measurement company based in Lincoln, Neb.

NRC publicly announced its 2004/2005 Consumer Choice Award winners in the Sept. 20 issue of Modern Healthcare magazine. In compiling its NRC Health-care Market Guide for 2004, the firm surveyed more than 140,000 consumers, inquiring which hospitals have the best overall quality and image.

Penn State Hershey Medical Center is one of 187 hospitals nationwide, out of more than 3,000 named by consumers, to earn NRC's 2004/2005 Consumer Choice Award distinction. Only 10 hospitals in Pennsylvania, including the medical center, received NRC honors this year. Penn State Hershey Medical Center now has earned the NRC Consumer Choice Award for five consecutive years (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004/2005). The medical center also took honors in 1999 while part of the former Penn State Geisinger Health System.
