Lady Lions to honor Mazzante before Sunday's game with Old Dominion

The Penn State women's basketball team will honor former Lady Lion All-American Kelly Mazzante before Sunday's (Dec. 19) game vs. Old Dominion when head coach Rene Portland will present Mazzante with her No. 13 uniform. Mazzante becomes the fourth player to be honored with her jersey, joining Suzie McConnell (No. 32), Susan Robinson (No. 21) and Helen Darling (No. 30). While at Penn State, Mazzante re-wrote the school and Big Ten record books, setting new marks for single game scoring (49 points), season scoring (872) and career points (2,919). Mazzante, a native of Williamsport, Pa. was the No. 18 overall pick in the 2004 WNBA draft, and plays for the Charlotte Sting. Sunday's game vs. Old Dominion will air on WPSX-TV, FSN-Pittsburgh and on CSTV. The game has also been tabbed "headband day," and the first 2,000 fans through the gates will receive a free Lady Lion headband. Tip-off is set for 2:15 p.m. in the Bryce Jordan Center.
