Medical Center moves to online job application process as of Jan. 1

Effective Jan. 1, both internal and external applicants for positions at the Medical Center will need to apply online. Paper applications or resumes will no longer be accepted. The change is necessary to process applications more quickly, eliminate duplicate applications, ensure consistency and eliminate the possibility of lost or misplaced applications.

When applicants apply, they will be able to sign up for Career Mail, which is a free service that will allow them to receive an e-mail notification as soon as new jobs they select become available. Applicants will be able to check the status of every application they submit and will be able to print date-stamped confirmation that their application was processed.

Each year, human resources receives more than 36,000 applications. Currently, about 85 to 90 percent of those applications come over the Internet/Infonet. An all-electronic application process will enable human resources to manage and distribute this large volume of applications in a more efficient, accurate and cost-effective manner, enabling them to fill jobs more quickly. It also will allow human resources to better communicate the status of open positions to applicants.

Tech Service positions will continue to be posted on the human resources bulletin board outside the hospital coffee shop. The format has recently changed from a series of individual postings to a daily report showing all information pertinent to each open position in the bargaining unit.

Medical Center employees may view open positions and apply online from home; in the Human Resources Service Center in the hospital and on the computer kiosks located in the hospital. Human Resource Service Center hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

External applicants without computers at home are welcome to use the computers in the Human Resources Service Center. The service center and human resources office located on the first floor in the Academic Support Building (ASB), suite 1401, also maintains lists of local public libraries and CareerLink Offices, both of which offer computers for public use.
