Penn State Children's Hospital presents 'Safe Sitter'

Penn State Children's Hospital will offer "Safe Sitter," a one-day, baby-sitting course developed especially for boys and girls 11 to 13 years old on Saturday, Jan. 22. The course will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hershey Public Library, 701 Cocoa Ave., Hershey. The cost for the class is $25 per student, which includes lunch and materials. Each class is limited to 25 participants.

The course will teach young adults the skills needed to safely care for children, from infants through school age. Participants will learn what to do when a child chokes; safety for the sitter; how to call for emergency help; baby-sitting business skills; basic child care; and how to entertain children and keep them safe.
