Campus to mark King Day with original drama, musical celebration

For the seventh consecutive year, Penn State Harrisburg will mark the birthday of Martin Luther King on Monday, Jan. 17, with an original play in two acts written by local educator and playwright Dorothy E. King. "The Pulse of Mourning," produced by King's Harrisburg-based PenOwl Productions, centers on a fictional African-American family in 1936 rural South Carolina. As the play begins, the family is reeling from the loss of a loved one by a lynch mob. Throughout the performance, each family member grapples with a personal decision -- to fight the injustice or move on.
