The Human Resources Center for Leadership Development, in conjunction with the Employee Satisfaction Team, is conducting an employee satisfaction survey. Employees of Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center or Penn State College of Medicine have the opportunity to express their feedback on work-related issues.
Everyone who is employed by the medical center or College of Medicine, including hourly and exempt staff, tech service, nurses, faculty physicians and non-physicians, residents, post-doctoral fellows, and managers and directors, is asked to complete the survey. The completed surveys will let management know how to be more effective in responding to employees' needs and future planning and decision-making. Graduate, medical and nursing students should not participate in the survey.
The surveys were distributed to administrators and chairs on Feb. 4 and should be distributed to employees by Feb. 18.
Employees should place completed surveys in the return envelope provided, addressed to Sperduto & Associates. Then, submit the completed surveys one of the following ways: either to a designated employee, or in one of the designated canisters located at the major entrances on the medical center campus, or in the U.S. mail. Preferably, surveys should be returned within 24 hours of receiving the survey or no later than March 4.
Completed surveys will not be seen by anyone at the medical center or the College of Medicine. All surveys will be sent directly to the independent firm of Sperduto & Associates Inc., where data will be combined with other staff data and the results summarized in a report. In addition, departments and work units with fewer than 10 employees will be grouped with other departments and work units to preserve individual anonymity.
Sessions for leadership to receive the results of the survey are expected to occur in early May. Following these sessions, it is expected that the results of the survey will be shared with the remainder of the employee population through a number of communication vehicles that may include department/work unit meetings, The Crescent newsletter and campus-wide employee meetings.
