Woman's History Month events planned

The following activities and events have been planned in honor of Woman's History Month:

Beaver
-- March 23: "That Ain't No Way to Treat a Lady," a theatrical production by Nancy Hulse Multimedia, exploring and discussing violence against women in today's world using the works of Virginia Woolf, Jimi Hendrix, Mariah Carey and other artists, 9:30 p.m., Student Union Building Auditorium.

-- March 31: "Eating Disorders: Inside the Thin Cage," author Constance Rhodes' presentation of her real-life struggles with eating disorders and advice about how to seek help for these illnesses, 12:30 p.m., Student Union Building Lodge.

-- April 9, 10: Students will attend the National Collegiate Conference on Global Women's and Human Rights, Washington, D.C., funded by Student Activities Fee and Honors Club, $25 registration fee, trip led by JoAnn Chirico, instructor in sociology.

Dickinson School of Law
-- March 2: Susan Bogart, director of financial aid, will discuss credit management, 4 p.m., 145 Trickett Hall.

-- March 15: Beth Farmer, professor of law, will present "Breaking the Glass Ceiling," 4 p.m., 145 Trickett Hall.

-- March 16: Janice Austin, assistant dean for admissions and financial aid, and Eileen Kane, professor of law, present "Women and Public Speaking," 4 p.m., 145 Trickett Hall.

-- March 16, 17: The Penn State Dickinson Women's Law Caucus is sponsoring a production of "The Vagina Monologues," 8 p.m., Dickinson College Weiss Hall, $5 per ticket. Proceeds benefit Domestic Violence Services of Cumberland/Perry Counties and Sexual Assault/Rape Crisis Services of Cumberland County.

-- March 23: Suzanne Adair, human resource specialist from Penn State's Office of Affirmative Action, will share tips for stress management, 4 p.m., 145 Trickett Hall.

-- March 30: Carla Pratt, professor of law, will discuss balancing career and family, 4 p.m., 145 Trickett Hall.

DuBois
-- March 2: Randi Driscoll, pianist, 7 p.m., Donald S. Hiller Building Auditorium.

-- Throughout March: Student Affairs will be displaying a women's history poster series.

-- March 28: Women's studies class presents "Women in the Victorian World," noon, 47 Smeal Building.

-- March 30: "Iron-Jawed Angels," film about women's suffrage movement, noon, Hiller Auditorium. Faculty member Keely Roen will hold a discussion.

Great Valley
-- March 17: Renee Welde, a leader of workshops and groups on spiritual psychology, life purpose and potential, and career development, "Women: Life Purpose and Potential", noon, 126/127 Main Building.

Penn College
-- March 22: Women in Music Panel Discussion, 8 p.m., Bush Campus Center, the Bistro area. A performance by one of the panelists, New York singer/songwriter Jen Shankman, will follow at 9 p.m. in the Bistro area.

University Park
-- March 2: Women's Health and Wellness Fair, 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., HUB Alumni Hall, sponsored by the Center for Women Students, open to all faculty, staff and students.

-- Through March 16: "Calculations for the Perfect Woman," by Donnamaria Bruton, art exhibit exploring standards and perceptions of the female body, HUB Gallery.

-- March 21: Commission for Women banquet, 5 p.m., The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel.
