Penn College

Business/computer faculty member at Penn College named to 'Who's Who'

Asesh K. Das, a professor of computer science in Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Business and Computer Technologies, was nominated recently by one or more current or former students to be included in the ninth edition of "Who's Who Among America's Teachers." He becomes a multiple-year honoree, having been honored in 2004.

Since 1990, "Who's Who Among American Teachers" has celebrated teachers, coaches or other adult leaders for their leadership, inspiration and demand for excellence, as nominated by students from "Who's Who Among American High School Students," "Who's Who Among American High School Students -- Sports Edition" and "The National Dean's List." Only 5 percent of the nation's teachers are honored each year, and fewer than 2 percent are included in multiple editions. The ninth edition of "Who's Who Among America's Teachers" will be published in October.

Das earned a doctoral degree in high-energy nuclear physics in India and a master's in computer science from Florida Institute of Technology. He did postdoctoral work in computer science at the University of Tennessee Space Institute. Before joining Penn College in 1994, he was a member of the teaching and research faculty in computer science at West Virginia University.
