Penn State Lehigh Valley Student Receives William W. Asbury Award

Jacqui Kromer of Walnutport was recently presented with the William W. Asbury Award for Student Organizational Leadership. The award recognizes students who have excelled in dedication to community service, academic excellence, promotion of diversity, responsible citizenship and creative programming. A total of eight recipients will receive the award from September through April and are chosen by a committee of students and staff members.

Recipients receive a $500 stipend and a plaque which is awarded during the academic year. Financial support for this award was received from grants from USA Today in the name of William W. Asbury, vice president emeritus for student affairs, to recognize outstanding undergraduate students enrolled at Penn State.

Kromer, a senior at Penn State Lehigh Valley, is majoring in applied psychology. She was nominated for her dedication to community and to the campus. Kromer is a Penn State Lion Ambassador, chair of the campus' THON committee and a member of the Student Government Association. She is a graduate of Northampton High School.
