Penn State team places sixth in automotive competition

The Penn State Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (FSAE) Team recently placed sixth out of 140 teams in the 25th Annual Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Competition in Detroit.

The Penn State FSAE Team improved its performance in every category -- skid pad, acceleration, endurance (with Penn State FSAE coming in 10th), cost and business. In addition, for the first time since Penn State FSAE was established in 1994, the team competed in the final round of design, placing third.

Penn State FSAE was the lightest four-cylinder car in the 25-year history of this event, weighing in at 369 pounds.

This event is one of the largest and most demanding of all the student competitions. This is an international competition, with teams being fielded by countries including Australia, Brazil, England, Japan, Korea and Sweden.
