Velodrome event benefits Jim Young Scholarship Fund

Penn State Lehigh Valley will sponsor a benefit for the Jim Young Scholarship Fund at the Lehigh Valley Velodrome on Friday, July 29. The gates open at 6:30 p.m. and the Mid-Summer Classic Professional races begin at 7:30 p.m. The Lehigh Valley Velodrome is located at the intersection of Routes 222 and 100 in Trexlertown. The Jim Young Scholarship Fund was created in honor of an outstanding Penn State cycling coach who has been training Penn State University cyclists since 1983. Under Young's leadership, the Penn State cycling team has won several national championships and more than 30 individual titles. The proceeds of this scholarship will be used to pave the way for future cyclists to train while continuing their education at Penn State. The event is open to the public. Tickets are available for $25 per person or $40 per couple. For more information, call Eric Willcox at (610) 285-5039.
