New shuttle begins to Hershey's College of Medicine

Penn State University Park is providing a shuttle service to the Hershey Medical Center to complement the current shuttle service provided by the College of Medicine. This service will operate year-round, Monday through Thursday.

The University Park shuttle will leave at 6:30 a.m. each day from the parking lot behind Old Main in order to arrive at the medical center by 8:30 a.m. It will return from the medical center at 10 a.m. to arrive at University Park by noon. The University Park shuttle service will mirror the Hershey Medical Center shuttle schedule. Currently, the medical center shuttle makes its first trip to University Park by leaving the medical school at 7:30 a.m. to arrive at University Park by 9:30 a.m. It returns to the medical center leaving from University Park at 10 a.m. to arrive back at the medical center by noon. It then makes a second trip to University Park by leaving from the Hershey campus at 1:30 p.m. to arrive at University Park by 3:30 p.m. The final leg of the second trip is made back to Hershey by leaving University Park at 4 p.m. to arrive in Hershey at 6 p.m. To make a full day, University Park faculty can take the morning shuttle at 6:30 a.m. from University Park to the medical center and return on the medical center shuttle at 1:30 p.m., which arrives back at University Park by 3:30 p.m.

The initial vehicle for this service will be a maxi-van, however, a new custom bus has been ordered that will provide comfort, work space, handicap accessibility and wireless Internet capabilities. The wireless Internet capabilities will make it possible to work productively while en route to or from the Hershey campus. Faculty, staff and students are welcome to take advantage of this cost-free service that is provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

This new shuttle service is funded by the Office of the Vice President for Research, the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences, the Veterinary Sciences Department, and the colleges of Health and Human Development, Engineering, Earth and Mineral Sciences, and the Eberly College of Science.
