Heard on Campus: Morgan Spurlock, director of 'Supersize Me'

"It's a time of discovery when you're in college. Find something you believe in and fight for it ... We live at a time when we need some people to speak out; we need people to be active, to be willing to make a difference, and we need you guys to do that. You're going to be the ones who make the films I want to see, who write the articles I want to read or the books that are going to influence millions of people around the world. I really hope you do that because just as you are looking to be inspired, there are millions of people just like me who want to be inspired, as well."
-- Morgan Spurlock, the Academy Award-nominated documentary filmmaker behind "Supersize Me," speaking on Monday (Oct. 3) about the film, which tracked his 30-day diet of nothing but fast-food fare, and its impact on the way Americans perceive a relationship between the obesity epidemic and the fast-food industry. Spurlock spoke to a capacity crowd in Eisenhower Auditorium as part of an event sponsored by the Penn State Student Nutrition Association.
