Surviving the Liberian war is next Research Unplugged topic

October 31, 2005

Patricia Jabbeh Wesley, assistant professor of English at Penn State Altoona, will present "Surviving the war and living again: A Liberian poet's story" at noon Wednesday, Nov. 2, in the Penn State Downtown Theatre. The free presentation is part of the Research Unplugged program. Research Unplugged is based on Cafe Scientifique, a university-town phenomenon that began a few years ago in the United Kingdom. The concept is to create an open informal forum for exploring ideas, fostering public dialogue and energizing conversations about issues that matter. Downtown restaurants provide light refreshments at no cost to guests. The afternoon begins with a 10- to 15-minute introduction of the topic, followed by an open floor for questions and discussion.
