Blue and White Society organizes canned food drive

November 28, 2005

DuBois -- The Penn State DuBois Blue and White Society collected more than four cases of canned and boxed goods during its Thanksgiving food drive.

The weeklong campaign encouraged students, faculty and staff to contribute vegetables, bread mixes, stuffing, boxed potatoes, cranberries and desserts -- the makings of a traditional Thanksgiving feast.

According to Kathy Schoening of Luthersburg, Blue and White Society member and coordinator of the event, the food collected at the student union building has been donated to the DuBois Ministerial food pantry for distribution to needy families.

The Blue and White Society represents the student membership in the Penn State Alumni Society. The group makes charitable contributions to community organizations and provides a social and educational networking opportunity for students at the DuBois campus.
