Win tickets to see Joe Pantoliano, 'Monkey Trial'

University Park, Pa. -- Two big Center for the Performing Arts events are coming up on the Penn State University Park campus, and once again Newswire subscribers have a chance to attend them for free. One entry per person, per contest, please.

First, Newswire subscribers can win two tickets to see Ed Asner, Mike Farrell and Sharon Gless star in "The Great Tennessee Monkey Trial" at 7:30 p.m. Feb 7 in Schwab Auditorium on Penn State's University Park campus. The play, which also will be performed Feb. 8, is based on trial transcripts from a real case. Name the defendant in the case, and the year in which the trial was held. Answers should be e-mailed to Newswire@psu.edu by 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, with "Monkey Trial" in the subject line. Be sure to include your name and a daytime phone number where you can be reached. The winner of two free tickets will be drawn at random from all correct answers on Monday, Feb. 6.

Then, one lucky Newswire subscriber and a "mob" of friends can win free tickets to an exclusive pre-screening of the soon-to-be-released feature film "The Amateurs" at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, in Schwab Auditorium. Actor Joe Pantoliano, who stars in the film, will be the host for the screening, and will hold a post-screening discussion with the audience. Pantoliano won a Best Supporting Actor Emmy Award for his role in an HBO drama series. Name the character and the series. Answers should be e-mailed to Newswire@psu.edu by 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, with "Amateurs" in the subject line. Be sure to include your name and a daytime phone number where you can be reached. The winner will be drawn at random from all correct answers on Tuesday, Feb. 14, for 10 tickets to the Feb. 18 event.

Want to guarantee that you'll see the shows? Tickets for "Monkey Trial" are on sale now at $34 for adults, $17 for University Park students and $24 for people 18 and younger. Tickets for the Joe Pantoliano event are $4 each for general admission, and go on sale Monday, Feb. 6.
