Mind-trick specialist, magician to present at Penn State DuBois

Comedian/psychic/magician Jim Karol will perform at 7 p.m. Monday, April 3, at Hiller Auditorium on the Penn State DuBois campus. The event is free to the public, however advance tickets are required and can be obtained by calling the Student Life office at (814) 375-4766.

Karol grew up in Allentown and began his entertainment career in the early 1980s. He began as a magician, dabbling with memory tricks, and before he knew it Karol found himself on the front pages of newspapers across the country for correctly predicting the Pennsylvania Daily Number in 1990, costing the state a $12 million payout to those who followed Karol's advice and played the predicted number.

Karol united with the U.S. Playing Card Co., developing an internationally marketed product called "Cool Card Tricks." He also has written his own book, "50 Ways to Hustle Your Friends." Karol began to expand upon his memory techniques and other feats of the mind which led him to realize that he had finally found his niche. Within just a few months he memorized 75,000 zip codes, every country and capital, the Scrabble dictionary and thousands of sports facts. Karol also is a motivational keynote speaker and he teaches some of his skills after his presentations in his "MindWiz" workshop.

Karol has appeared on NBC's "Tonight Show with Jay Leno," the "Ellen Show," "Rosie O'Donnell Show," "Montel," Fox News and numerous other television and news programs.
