Family wins RV makeover in time for the Blue-White Game

University Park, Pa. -- A Barnesville, Pa., family professed their Penn State pride, and it won them a nationwide contest. For this year's Blue-White Game at Beaver Stadium on Saturday, April 22, Ed and Barb Tarconish will tailgate with daughter Emily, a Penn State journalism student, and 11-year-old son Jake, in their 22-year-old RV, newly renovated courtesy of RV Rescue and the "RVtoday" television show.

The family's 1984 motor home received a complete makeover April 7-10 at one of the year's largest RV gatherings, The Rally at Daytona Motor Speedway. Attendees at the rally watched the renovation's progress unfold, and Web surfers caught the action virtually via three Webcams at http://www.thervrescue.com/Webcast online.

The first of its kind, RV Rescue will be filmed for two segments of "RVtoday," to air in June 2006 on the Outdoor Life Network. After the updated motor home's return to Pennsylvania, a production crew will follow the Tarconish family to the Blue-White Game to complete filming of the television special, and a media tour of the spruced-up RV will kick off that day at Beaver Stadium.

Sponsors and producers of the renovation project and show have indicated that they found design inspiration for the motor home's refurbishment based on the Tarconish family's interest in tailgating at Penn State football games. As testament to their affinity for Penn State, the family's winning video contest entry included an unfurling of a Penn State banner and a life-size cardboard resemblance of Nittany Lions football coach Joe Paterno.
