New version of ANGEL released May 13

Information Technology Services (ITS) upgraded Penn State's Course Management System, ANGEL, from version 6.2 to version 6.3 on May 13. ANGEL allows instructors to post a syllabus, add course files, establish threaded discussions, administer quizzes, collect assignments and manage grades from one online location without the need to know HTML. The modifications within the new version are not sweeping changes -- for the most part enhancements have been made to existing tools to give faculty more flexibility and streamline administrative tasks. New features in ANGEL 6.3 include a countdown clock that appears to students taking timed quizzes; an optional grid view of the course calendar; a quicker method to set dates on events and lesson items via a pop-up calendar; and the ability to designate a lesson item as a course milestone, while the item is being created. A list of new features is posted in ANGEL's online help section at http://cmshelp.psu.edu/ANGEL63.htm online. Free seminars on ANGEL 6.3, including a New Features seminar, will be offered by ITS Training Services beginning in August.
