Basketball ticket sales jump significantly
University Park, Pa. -- Due to the success of the 2005 Nittany Lion football team and the convenience of ordering tickets online, student football tickets for the 2006 season have sold out at a record pace. Penn State Athletics has announced that all 21,000 student seats have been purchased in just 13 days. Student season tickets -- sold each year on a first-come, first-serve basis to all full-time students -- have never sold faster.
Although the start of student ticket sales has taken place in early June for many years, the rapid sale of this year's tickets seemed to catch some students by surprise, as tickets had typically remained available until late in the summer each of the last three years.
Athletics is currently reviewing whether or not additional tickets will be available to students in other areas of the stadium for certain games this season.
The pace of Nittany Lion student basketball tickets has also accelerated heading into this year, already outpacing last year's student season ticket total by 25 percent. Student basketball tickets for both Nittany Lion and Lady Lion Basketball can be purchased at http://www.GoPSUsports.com online.
