Kisenwether wins outstanding entrepreneurship educator award

Liz Kisenwether, director of the engineering entrepreneurship minor and assistant professor of engineering design, recently received the 2006 Kauffman Outstanding Entrepreneurship Educator Award. The award was presented at the 2006 American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Annual Conference.

"Penn State has become a national model for implementing a technology-based entrepreneurship minor within a large engineering program," said Anthony Marchese, a member of the ASEE nomination committee. "We were impressed by how quickly and effectively Liz was able to establish the program at Penn State."

Kisenwether has served as the director of the entrepreneurship minor since its creation in 2001. The minor teaches students to combine business skills with innovation to create and support technology-based organizations. Under Kisenwether's guidance, entrepreneurship graduates have launched successful companies and become vital members of established businesses.

The entrepreneurship minor is part of a growing entrepreneurship education initiative across Penn State and is one of several programs overseen by the School of Engineering Design, Technology and Professional Programs.
