Kundalini "gentle" yoga returns Aug. 29 to the University Fitness Center at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine. BJ McNeillie will teach the eight-week session.

Kundalini yoga is practical -- no pretzel-like positions necessary. Instead, this ancient practice uses breath, movement, sound and meditation to move energy through the body and balance the body's various systems. The class is offered at 5:45 or 7:15 p.m. and costs $60. For those attendees participating in the fall Walking Works campaign, each class equals 6,700 steps.

A new martial arts class for ages 12 and older has also been added to the fall schedule. This class is in addition to the adult-oriented workout already offered. Both classes are based on the traditional martial art of Tae Kwan Do, the Korean national sport. The adult class is held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Sept. 12. The 12-and-older class is held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturdays starting Sept. 16. A $60 registration fee includes access for the adult to both classes and access to the Saturday class for the adult's youth companion.
