University Park, Pa. -- Sandra R. Smith, director of student and enrollment services at Penn State Fayette, has been appointed interim chancellor of the campus, effective Sept 1.
Smith, an associate professor of kinesiology, also served as athletic director and interim director of academic affairs at the campus before being named director of student and enrollment services. She holds a doctoral degree in health and physical education from The Ohio State University.
As director of student and enrollment services, Smith has provided overall leadership and direction for the planning and administration of student services from recruitment through graduation. As a member of the Fayette campus senior leadership team, she helped set goals, develop budgets and engage in strategic planning, policy development and problem solving for campuswide issues. Also an active member of the University Faculty Senate for many years, Smith completed two terms as chair of the Faculty Rights and Responsibilities committee in spring 2005.
Smith replaces Gregory Gray, who has accepted the presidency of Miami Dade College Kendall Campus.
