"My then-16-year-old son called me and said, 'Dad, you've been name-checked by Ludacris!' I said, 'That's a good thing?' It was a boost to my street-cred, though."
-- Nineteen-time Emmy Award-winner Bob Costas of NBC Sports, commenting on his mention in a song by rapper Ludacris, as part of an entertaining and wide-ranging conversation with Penn State alumna Amanda Gifford of ESPN Radio in Schwab Auditorium at Penn State's University Park campus Monday (Oct. 2). He also provided career advice to aspiring journalists, shared insights from his favorite career moments and reflected about being one of the last in a generation of sportscasters who have the opportunity to work numerous major sporting events. The event was sponsored by the John Curley Center for Sports Journalism.
Portions of a separate exclusive interview with Costas will air this Friday as part of "Centre County Report," which airs at 11:30 p.m. Friday night on WPSU-TV.
