Bombardier's Koerbel to speak at McCormick honorary lecture

Duncan B. Koerbel will present the lecture "The Business of Building Airplanes -- 20-Plus Years Since Penn State" at 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10, in 127 Sackett Building on the Penn State University Park campus. The event is free and open to the public.

The fall 2006 Barnes W. McCormick Honorary Lecture will be an overview of the fundamentals of engineering taught at Penn State to more than 20 years of experience in the business of designing, building, testing and certifying airplanes.

Koerbel, who received his bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering in 1983 from Penn State, has worked with Raytheon Aircraft, Lockheed Martin and Fairchild Dornier. He now serves as vice president and general manager of Global Express XRS and Global 500 Bombardier Aerospace in Quebec, Canada.

The lecture series named in honor of Barnes W. McCormick, professor emeritus and former department head of aerospace engineering, is held twice a year to commemorate outstanding achievements by distinguished Penn State alumni.
