Princeton dean to speak at electrical engineering colloquium

Princeton University's H. Vincent Poor will present a lecture on the "Competition and Collaboration in Wireless Networks" at 5 p.m. Oct. 24 in the IST Building's Cybertorium, University Park.

The lecture, which is a part of the EE 590 colloquium series, is free to the public. Poor will discuss the development of design and deployment of wireless networks and the limitations created by energy and bandwidth. The talk will discuss the nodes in wireless networks and the need to use these resources efficiently.

Poor is the dean of engineering and applied science and the Michael Henry Strater university professor of electrical engineering at Princeton University. His involvement in research and teaching include areas of stochastic analysis, statistical signal processing and their applications in wireless networks and related fields. During the 2003-2004 academic year, Poor was a Guggenheim Fellow, dividing his sabbatical leave between Imperial College, Stanford and Harvard.

The EE 590 colloquia series includes distinguished speakers representing each of the three areas of the Department of Electrical Engineering.
