Artist to visit Fayette as part of cultural series

Penn State Fayette will host an Asian Diversity Series, including a campus art display and contest, from Oct. 28 to Nov. 18.

Artist Li Xiaoheng will present "A Chinese Perspective on American Culture" as part of the fall colloquia schedule at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, in the Biomedical Building. An art show featuring local work as well as the work of Li will take place Nov. 8 in the J.L. Williams Cultural Center.

The Tai Yim Kung Fu Dragon Dancing Team will perform at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 9 in the Community Center. The dance team has been performing in the United States for many years on special occasions ranging from Chinese New Year, parades, business grand opening and other celebrations. The event is free to the public.

Li will speak at a reception immediately after the dragon dancing performance. Hegraduated from the Nanjing Normal University with a bachelor's degree in fine arts in 1981. He is now an associate professor at Jiangsu Culture Center, Jiangsu Province. He has presented several solo exhibitions in China, South Korea and Canada and at California University of Pennsylvania, Slippery Rock University and International Images Gallery in Sewickley.
