Campus Life

Heard on Campus: Wally Triplett

"Often I am asked by school groups to discuss success. I respond by asking them to consider, What are the two most important letters of the alphabet? The answer, I tell them, is to always remember P & O: P for Preparation and O for Opportunity. That is what the world is all about -- being prepared for opportunity."
-- Wally Triplett, first African-American Nittany Lion football player to take the field in a varsity Penn State football game, and one of the first two African-Americans to play in the Cotton Bowl. Triplett was honored at the Quarterback Club Senior Banquet on Dec. 10 and interviewed by University Sports Archives staff on Dec. 11.
