Weather cancels Wednesday morning activities at University Park

University Park, Pa. -- Inclement weather caused Penn State to cancel scheduled activities at University Park beginning at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, through 10 a.m. today (Feb. 14). Classes which begin at or after 10 a.m. will resume Feb. 14 as scheduled. Employees previously identified as performing essential services should report as regularly scheduled unless advised otherwise by their supervisor. Stay tuned to WPSU-FM radio throughout the day for any additional weather and emergency information, or visit WPSU at http://www.wpsu.psu.edu or Penn State Live at http://live.psu.edu/ online.

Staff identified as essential personnel who are required to report to work at their regularly scheduled time on Feb. 14 may park in the Eisenhower Deck, East Deck or Nittany Deck with their Faculty/Staff parking permit displayed.

In addition, the weather has caused delays in several areas on Penn State's University Park campus. Check back often for updates to this list.

-- All University Libraries operations at University Park, including extended hours facilities, will close at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, and will not reopen until 10 a.m Wednesday, Feb. 14. Pattee Library and Paterno Library will remain open until 10 p.m. All other University Park Libraries may decide to close earlier. Contact the individual libraries directly for more information regarding their hours of operation.

-- A Midnight Clear has been declared on the University Park campus for both Tuesday night, Feb. 13, and Wednesday night, Feb. 14. For details, check http://live.psu.edu/story/22285

-- Continuing Education night classes at University Park, Lewistown and Williamsport have been canceled for Tuesday evening.

-- The Undergraduate Admissions Office is cancelling all admission visits and campus tours for Wednesday, Feb. 14. Visitors are encouraged to reschedule their visit at http://www.psu.edu/admissions/ or by calling (814) 865-5471.

-- Due to deteriorating road conditions, the University Park campus mail drivers/couriers will cease deliveries and pick-ups at noon today (Tuesday, Feb. 13) and will have modified routes on Wednesday, Feb. 14.

-- The Penn State Forum lunch featuring William Dietz, director of the Division of Nutrition and Physical Activity in the Center for Chronic Disease Prevention, originally scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 14, has been canceled due to the weather. For information about refunds, call (814) 865-7590.

-- Penn State has hotel rooms available in both The Nittany Lion Inn and The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel at a special $55 rate (single or double occupancy) for Penn State faculty and staff who may not want to travel home Tuesday evening because of the weather.
