Teaching with Technology program benefits graduate teaching assistants

University Park, Pa. -- Graduate teaching assistants and academic departments are invited to participate in the Teaching with Technology (TWT) certificate program, detailed at http://tlt.its.psu.edu/support/twt/ online.

Through the free program, graduate students apply existing technology skills, acquire new skills, and develop a philosophy about teaching with technology. They assemble an online portfolio highlighting their knowledge and skills, under the guidance of a departmental representative. Upon approval of the portfolio, students receive a certificate from The Graduate School. This is especially valuable when seeking teaching positions, as employers are looking for personnel who have strong technology skills and can make decisions about appropriate use of technologies in education. Completed portfolios can be viewed at http://tlt.its.psu.edu/support/twt/completed.html online.

Graduate teaching assistants interested in participating should contact their TWT department representatives. A complete list is available at http://tlt.its.psu.edu/support/twt/contacts.html online. Students in departments without a listed representative can contact the TWT Coordinator at twtc@psu.edu for additional assistance in identifying a coordinator. Departments interested in encouraging their graduate students to participate in this program can also contact twtc@psu.edu for more information and consultation.

The Teaching with Technology certificate program is jointly sponsored by The Graduate School and Teaching and Learning with Technology, a unit of Information Technology Services.
