Industrial Research Office hires new associate director

The Industrial Research Office (IRO) has hired Don Mothersbaugh as associate director. Mothersbaugh will interact proactively with researchers, primarily in the colleges of Engineering and Information Sciences and Technology, assisting with industry connections. Establishing and maintaining long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with industry partners is the main goal of this work.

Mothersbaugh brings to the IRO experience with both small and large companies within Pennsylvania. After several years as an account executive with Xerox Corp. in Harrisburg and with Lucent Technologies in Wilkes-Barre, Mothersbaugh more recently worked with Advanced Interfaces Inc. -- a Penn State spin-out company -- and Blue Mountain Quality Resources. This industrial experience will aid IRO's efforts to understand the current corporate mindset regarding research partnerships with universities.

Mothersbaugh received his bachelor of science in business management from Penn State in 1990.
