Faculty member consolidates management textbooks for online use

An associate professor of business administration at Pennsylvania College of Technology was in the forefront of a major textbook publisher's latest initiative in distance education.

Gerald D. "Chip" Baumgardner was the lead writer for a McGraw-Hill project titled "Principles of Management Online," in which he consolidated the publisher's three best-selling "Principles of Management" textbooks into one usable online class that would be suitable for each of the books. McGraw-Hill expects a national rollout of the product later this year.

A frequent writer on online-education issues, Baumgardner holds a bachelor's degree from Penn State, master's degrees from Penn State and Shippensburg University, and a doctorate from George Mason University.
