Alumni celebrate return to University Park

Campus tours, college open houses, dinners and the Alumni Institute were just some of the activities held May 31 through June 3 on Penn State's University Park campus for the hundreds of alumni celebrating their 40th, 45th and 50th reunions. Sponsored by the Penn State Alumni Association, Traditional Reunion Weekend featured a full slate of activities for this year's reunion attendees: the classes of 1967, 1962, 1957 and all earlier years. One of the weekend's highlights was the Friday night induction of the Class of 1957 into the Penn State Pioneers, a program begun in 1957 to honor alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago from Penn State. Other highlights during the weekend included the 57th annual Alumni Institute, featuring eight Penn State faculty members lecturing on wide-ranging topics, from Volumetrics by Barbara Rolls to historic rural Pennsylvania landscapes by Sally McMurry; tours of Beaver Stadium, Pattee Library and Paterno Library, Old Main Bell Tower and more; the All-Class Luncheon; and class dinners, receptions and sing-alongs.
