Penn State Live now available for iPhone

University Park, Pa. -- A new version of Penn State Live has been launched to deliver University news directly to the screen of Apple's just-introduced iPhone.

The light version of the University's news Web site delivers today's Penn State headlines and stories to iPhones, Blackberrys and other smartphones that can access Web sites.

Penn State Live for iPhones can be accessed by pointing the phone's Safari Web browser to http://live.psu.edu/iphone.

"Our University Relations staff have pioneered a number of approaches to providing news, photos and videos over the past decade," said Bill Mahon, vice president for University Relations. "The news site for iPhones and other smartphones contains all the daily stories posted to Penn State Live and in their entirety."

The new site was developed and launched the same week iPhones were introduced.

"I encourage Penn Staters to bookmark the Web site on their iPhone and other smartphones," Mahon said. "We already have many smartphone owners who are among the more than half-million subscribers who receive University news by e-mail through the Penn State Newswire."
