Alumni Career Services to host online Webinars

University Park, Pa. -- With Penn State alumni living throughout the United States and around the world, Penn State's Alumni Career Services is going online this fall to reach Penn State graduates with two career-related Webinars.

The two interactive Webinars are Alumni CareerShape, an eight-session online course for alumni interested in defining their career direction and setting achievable professional goals, and Alumni JOBSearch, a four-session course designed to assist alumni in developing the job search skills they need to obtain a new position.

Alumni CareerShape is designed to help alumni develop goals and build a plan that will lead to greater career satisfaction. Participants will interact with a career counselor, take self-assessment inventories and do other coursework. The next Alumni CareerShape Webinar will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning Sept. 19 and concluding Nov. 7.

The Alumni CareerShape course also will be offered in a combination live classroom and Webinar format. The first part of the program will be held on the Penn State Great Valley campus in suburban Philadelphia on Saturday morning, Oct. 20, and will include classroom and individual instruction. The online portion of the course then will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on four consecutive Wednesdays beginning Oct. 24.

The fee for either Alumni CareerShape program is $135 for Penn State Alumni Association members and $170 for non-members.

The second Webinar is Alumni JOBSearch, a four-session lunchtime Webinar running noon to 1 p.m. Mondays, which allows alumni to grab a quick bite at their desk while advancing their career. Designed to assist alumni in developing job search skills, this online course will cover resume writing, interviewing skills, job search strategies and networking. The first session of Alumni JOBSearch begins Oct. 1. The Alumni JOBSearch will be repeated noon to 1 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Nov. 6. Alumni JOBSearch is free for members of the Penn State Alumni Association and $75 for non-members.
