Blue Band puts on a show at football games

October 08, 2007

The atmosphere at Penn State football games is renowned nationwide, and the Penn State Blue Band is a big part of what makes watching a game at Beaver Stadium the experience that it is. Just like the football players, the band members practice hard all week for their Saturday performance. The 262 instrumentalists, 12 majorettes, 33 silks, drum major and feature twirler practice from 4 to 5:45 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday; and from 7:30 to 10 p.m. every Tuesday. On game day, they're on their practice field five hours before kickoff, under the guidance of 21 staff members led by Director O. Richard Bundy. For a glimpse into their schedule on game day, view photos at http://live.psu.edu/stilllife/1472 online.

  • It's important for band members to strech and warm up their muscles before performing. For more photos, click on the image above.
