Alumni Academy in Ethical Leadership scheduled for April

October 18, 2007

A two-day event in early April allows Penn State alumni and alumni from the College of Communications to work with other communications professionals, discussing ethical issues and challenges by sharing their own experiences and considering specifically selected case studies.

The second Alumni Academy in Ethical Leadership, coordinated by the Arthur W. Page Center for Integrity in Public Communication, takes place April 3-4, with Willard Nielsen, public relations and corporate communications counsel for Johnson & Johnson, as the keynote speaker.

During the first Alumni Academy, conducted in March, among the case studies for consideration was Cartoon Network and its publicity attempts in select U.S. cities that went awry in some instances and prompted terrorism and safety concerns.

Alumni who participated in the sessions represented a Who's Who of the communications world. The group included: Eric Rabe, senior vice president of media relations for Verizon; Iris Grossman, an associate director of communications for Johnson & Johnson; Lori Hafer Lukus, supervisor of communications for GlaxoSmithKine's consumer health-care division; and others.

Additional information about the 2008 Alumni Academy will be available in the near future.
