Screening of 'The Paper' Nov. 7

October 31, 2007

University Park, Pa. -- Carnegie Building, longtime home of The Daily Collegian, will play host to a screening of "The Paper," a documentary film about the Penn State student newspaper, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, in Carnegie Cinema, room 113.

Director Aaron Matthews will introduce the film and participate in a question-and-answer session at the conclusion of the screening.

Released earlier this year, "The Paper" documents a year at The Daily Collegian. According to Matthews, the film portrays "tomorrow's journalists wrestling with today's national media questions." The 78-minute documentary previously appeared at several film festivals, including the Atlanta Film Festival and the St. Louis International Film Festival.

The University Park campus screening, sponsored by the Department of Film-Video and Media Studies in the College of Communications, is free to the public.

The film will make its national broadcast premiere Tuesday, Dec. 11, as part of the Independent Lens on the Public Broadcasting Service.
