University announces search for vice president of Student Affairs

Penn State is seeking candidates for the position of vice president for Student Affairs. The vice president serves as the University's principal administrative leader for Student Affairs and reports directly to the president of the University. The position requires an effective leader who can manage a large administrative unit in a multi-campus university setting. Candidates should have significant administrative experience with responsibility for personnel, programs and resources, and be familiar with the philosophy and responsibilities of a large teaching and research institution.  Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
 
Student Affairs provides direct services in the areas of counseling, health care, career management, student activities, conflict resolution and residence life.  Units include Career Services, Center for Ethics and Religious Affairs, Center for Student Engagement, Center for Women Students, Counseling and Psychological Services, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Judicial Affairs, the LGBTA Student Resource Center, the Paul Robeson Cultural Center, Residence Life, Student Activities and Unions, and University Health Services. In addition, the division is supported by Student Affairs Research and Assessment, Human Resources, Finance and Information Technology. The vice president develops partnerships with student organizations and collaborates and consults with Student Affairs staff at all Penn State campuses and colleges.
 
The vice president is responsible for communicating effectively with students and other key stakeholders, fostering an inclusive University community, promoting innovative and cooperative work among the staff, building academic partnerships, and seeking new strategies for promoting deeper student engagement and learning. The Division of Student Affairs aspires to become a national model for cocurricular education and student learning assessment.
